How to Stop Word 2016 from Automatically Formatting New Documents?

Hello everyone,

I'm working in Word 2016 and I'm running into a frustrating issue with automatic formatting on every new document I create. I'm trying to start a completely blank file, but it keeps applying a style I don't want.

Specifically, every time I hit "Enter" to start a new paragraph, it automatically changes the font and spacing to something other than the default "Normal" style. I have to manually change it back every single time, which is really slowing me down.

I've tried clearing the formatting in the document, but the problem just comes back in the next new document I create. Is there a specific setting or a template I need to edit to fix this permanently?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! doodle baseball

To stop Word 2016 from automatically formatting new documents, you need to adjust the default settings. Start by opening a blank document and going to the “Home” tab where you can set your preferred font, spacing, and paragraph style. Once you’ve customized it, click on the “Design” tab, then choose “Set as Default” so every new document follows your rules. You can also modify the “Normal” template by saving your changes to the default template file, which Word uses each time you create a new document. Be sure to turn off auto-correct and auto-format features in the “File > Options > Proofing” menu if they’re causing unwanted changes. Many students, while handling tasks like this, also juggle coursework and even think, I wish someone could Take my online statistics class for me to save time. Making Word work the way you want ensures smoother, distraction-free writing.
